History of Hadimba Temple

Hadimba Temple was built in the year 1953 AC by Maharaja Bahadur Singh. It was built on Dungri Hills in a cave where Hadimba and her brother Hadimb used to live in a cave. It is also said that Hadimba meditated in this Jungle of towering cedar trees. Hadimba vowed to marry a person who would defeat his brother, Hadimb. Bhima, one of the Pandavas, defeated Hadimb and married Hadimba. Godotkach was one of their son; Godotkach Temple is also located near the temple.

Hadimba Temple is built in a pagoda-style design. It is a pyramid-shaped wooden construction 24 meters tall from the ground. The rooftop has three tiers are made of wooden tiles, and the topmost cone-shaped roof is made of brass. The wooden beams, doorway, and walls depict carvings of animals, flowers, dancers, etc.
