Why Is Vashisht Village Famous?

History and Spiritual Importance of Vashisht

The Vashishtt temple is one of the oldest temples in Manali. It is dedicated to Sage Vashisht, a guru of Lord Rama. It is said that Vashisht meditated here. Vashisht was saddened when Vishvamitra killed his family and wanted to commit suicide in the Vipasha. The Vipasha River refused to let Vashisht die, so he began meditating here. 

Lakshman is said to have created the hot springs because he didn't want Vashisht to go far for a bath. He shot an arrow to create hot sulphur springs. Now, the temples of Lord Shiva and Lord Rama are also located inside Vashisht village.

Vashisht Hot Springs

The Vashisht temple has hot-water sulphur springs inside. This is the prime attraction of this place. These hot-water sulphur springs are said to cure skin diseases and infections. The temple has separate bathing areas for men and women. It is a great experience to bathe and relax in the hot water kund. A hot water Kund is a swimming pool filled with hot water. Vashisht Village and Jogini Waterfall

Jogini water trek starts from Vashisht temple. This is a 3 km trek to Jogini Waterfall, on the outskirts of Vashisht village. It takes 30 to 40 minutes to reach Jogini Waterfall from Vashisht. Jogini Waterfall is a stream of water that joins the River Bias. When it jumps from a mountain cliff, it makes a beautiful waterfall.
